In Palm Springs there are three main types of mosquitoes that are bothersome to people. Culex Quinquefasciatus or the Common Southern House Mosquitoes are most active at dawn and dusk. Aedes Albopictus or Asian Tiger Mosquito is unusual in that she bites during the daytime. The other frequent mosquito visitor in Loxahatchee is the Aedes Aegypti or Yellow Fever Mosquito. In addition to the irritating itchy welts, mosquitoes are vectors for diseases such as Yellow Fever, Dengue Fever, Chikungunya, Zika, West Nile Virus, Heart Worms in dogs, and St. Louis Encephalitis Virus.
Mosquitoes become active when temperatures reach 55 degrees, so they are almost always active in Loxahatchee. Both male and female mosquitoes eat nectar for energy; it is only the females that bite. Female mosquitoes lay hundreds of eggs at a time and she requires a blood meal for production of these eggs. After feasting on protein rich blood, 2-3 days later the female mosquito will lay eggs in standing water. She is immediately ready to feast/bite again and lay more eggs. Mosquito populations expand very quickly in the constant warmth of south Florida as the life cycle of the mosquito is quite fast. From the laying of the egg to the emergence of the adult is usually only 8-10 days.
When all of the above tips and suggestions just don’t bring you the mosquito relief you need, give us a call! Our experienced technicians have a trained eye for mosquito breeding habitat. We will inspect your property for areas where mosquitoes may lay eggs. We will treat these areas with a product that is safe for people, pets, and wildlife that prevents the mosquito larvae from turning into biting adult mosquitoes. The second portion of our mosquito program targets adult mosquitoes that fly into your yard from the neighbors. Mosquitoes rest on the underside of plants and shrubs during the day. We use backpack units that blow a fine mist several yards up in the air and through dense foliage. These mist blowers can penetrate plants and tree canopies where the mosquitoes rest. This application will continue to eliminate biting mosquitoes for approximately one month.
Our goal is to drive up to your house and see you weeding the flower beds or pushing your child on the swing. Leisure time with family and friends is precious; you should spend it doing what brings you joy. You have invested into your yard and landscaping and we want to help you enjoy it as often as you can. We offer same day appointments, regular and one-time treatments for special occasions, and your satisfaction is guaranteed.

The average mosquito treatment lasts approximately 30 days.Â
Depending on the weather and the types of products used on your property this may be shorter or longer.Â
It is important to have regular treatments at a monthly or every other month interval to prevent mosquitoes from breeding and having an outbreak when you least expect it.Â
Mosquitoes need standing water to begin their life cycle and hatch. They spend the first 10 days of their life in standing water. After they are born the females live the longest for about 50 days. The males only live for 10 days, dying shortly after mating.Â
