We’ve all had to make changes and sacrifices as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. COVID-19 has changed a lot about how we interact, how we explore, and what type of activities we engage in.
Everyone is saying it’s a “different world,” but what they mean is not that everything in the world is over. Rather, what it means is that we now have an opportunity to consider and change what we engage in.
New Activities, New Memories in Cumming, GA
Here at Nextgen Pest Solutions, we wanted to take the time to provide some ideas for how we can all adjust our free time in this new pandemic. While some of our past favorite activities may be more challenging, there are still so many things to do locally that we may find that there are things that we enjoy even more than what we used to do in the past.
The following are some things to do in Cumming and Forsyth County that are safer during the pandemic, allowing for things like social distancing and reduced risk of COVID-19. Once thing you’ll notice is that many of these are outdoors activities. As of this writing, current research into the coronavirus states that it is less likely to spread outdoors because of airflow and UV rays.
Luckily, Forsyth County has some amazing activities that can be enjoyed outdoors, along with a few indoors activities that may also be worth your time.
Activities in Forsyth County
- Sawnee Mountain Preserve – Hiking is perhaps one of the best activities you can enjoy. It’s great for your heart and lungs. It allows for social distancing. It is budget friendly and it is fun for all ages. The Sawnee Mountain Preserve is easily one of the best places to hike in Cumming and the rest of the county, offering amazing views, a good walk, and a chance to enjoy the great outdoors.
- U-Pick Farms – Like Warbington Farm. Scientists believe that COVID-19 doesn’t survive well on surfaces, and is damaged by the sun’s rays. That means that some activities that people reduced in the early stages may be safe again, including U-Pick farms, where you can pick your own amazing fruits, avoid grocery stores, and have a wonderful day outside together.
- Parks – There are so many great parks in Cumming and the nearby areas, including Fowler Park, Central Park, Mary Alice Park, and so many others. The parks here are great, and rarely are any of them crowded which makes it an excellent opportunity to feel like you’re around people, get some exercise, and have fun as a family.
- Some Escape Rooms – There are several escape rooms peppered throughout Forsyth County. Keystone Escape Rooms is nearby. Escape rooms have become so much fun for friends and family, and it’s no wonder they have become so popular in the last few years. Escape rooms are also private, and many have very effective COVID-19 protection practices making them safe(r) than other indoor activities.
- Paintball Atlanta – Okay, technically it is over in Alpharetta and not here in Forsyth, but it’s so close we made an exception: Paintball Atlanta. Paintball is a fun activity to do as a group. It takes place mostly outdoors and specifically involves wearing a large mask while you play, decreasing COVID risk while improving safety within the game.
Other Options: Lake Lanier, and More
There are so many activities around Forsyth County (and nearby). Lake Lanier, for example, which we could have included on this list but chose to exclude because not all of it is within the county, is a great place to enjoy the outdoors. But it can also be crowded, so try to find a secluded spot when you’re enjoying your time here or come during off hours for more space to roam and explore.
